Terms of Service

Simple rules for a simple chat. Use pocketchat respectfully and we'll all have a good time.

Effective February 25, 2026

Acceptance

By using pocketchat — whether on the website, the embeddable widget, or the Discord Activity — you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

What pocketchat is

Pocketchat is a real-time chat platform for communities. We provide the infrastructure; you provide the conversation. Messages are public within their rooms.

Your account

You don't create a traditional account. You pick a display name and get an anonymous session token stored in your browser. You're responsible for anything said under your chosen name.

Acceptable use

Keep it civil. You agree not to:

  • Harass, bully, or threaten other users
  • Post illegal content or anything that violates applicable laws
  • Spam or flood chat rooms with repetitive or disruptive messages
  • Impersonate admins, moderators, or other users
  • Attempt to exploit or attack the service, including but not limited to injection attacks, denial of service, or unauthorized access
  • Use bots or automated tools without explicit permission
  • Share malicious links or content designed to harm other users

Your content

You own what you write. By posting messages on pocketchat, you grant us a non-exclusive license to display and distribute your content within the service. We don't claim ownership of your messages.

Admins and moderators may delete messages or ban users at their discretion to maintain a healthy chat environment.

Moderation

Pocketchat uses automated profanity filtering and human moderation. We reserve the right to remove content or ban users who violate these terms. Bans may be applied without prior warning.

Pocketchat is provided as-is. We do our best to keep it running, but we make no guarantees about uptime, data persistence, or feature availability.

Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't guarantee that pocketchat will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, pocketchat and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability shall not exceed zero dollars, because the service is free.

Termination

We can suspend or terminate your access at any time, for any reason, without notice. You can stop using pocketchat whenever you want — just close the tab.

Third-party services

Pocketchat integrates with Discord for the Activity feature. When using pocketchat through Discord, you're also subject to Discord's terms of service.

Changes

We may update these terms at any time. The date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
